Gillingham have moved quickly to replace Simeon Jackson with the signing of Norwich striker Cody McDonald on a season-long loan.
Prolific frontman Jackson finally sealed his switch to Carrow Road on a two-year deal on Thursday afternoon, but Gills boss Andy Hessenthaler has brought the 24-year-old to the Priestfield in a separate deal.
McDonald scored five times for the Canaries in their League One promotion campaign last term but has struggled to hold down a regular spot in Paul Lambert's side.
His first involvement in the Gill's pre-season campaign should be against Peterborough on Tuesday.
