Scholes - We can win ugly

Paul Scholes says Manchester United are not afraid of winning ugly ahead of Wednesday night's UEFA Champions League semi-final with Arsenal. Meetings between the two sides have in the past been notoriously fraught affairs but in recent years the simmering tension between the clubs has dissipated somewhat. With Rafa Benitez having replaced Arsene Wenger as Sir Alex Ferguson's chief sparring partner of late, the fixture perhaps lacks the needle of bygone encounters. This has led to the suggestion the tie may turn out to be a classic, as both sides will concentrate solely on the football. But Scholes has warned purists expecting a feast of football, from two sides that boast a plethora of attacking talent, that winning through to the final in Rome takes precedence over any desire to entertain."I don't know how much of a spectacle it will be," said Scholes."We don't really care how good it is to watch or how much pretty football is played, as long as we get through to Rome."Winning the Champions League last year didn't make up for 1999, it was just nice to win it. "The win 10 years ago has gone, last year has gone, it doesn't make up for anything. It was just nice to win it - and we want to win it again this year."
