Giggs relishing Gunners clash
Ryan Giggs is desperate to be involved in Manchester United's UEFA Champions League semi-final date with Arsenal on Wednesday. The Red Devils veteran was named PFA Player of the Year on Sunday, but has already turned his attention back to events on the field.The midweek encounter with the Gunners could see Giggs make his 800th United appearance, an achievement of which he should be rightly proud.For now, though, the Welsh winger insists he is fully focused on helping Sir Alex Ferguson's men pick up another crucial win, rather than accumulating personal accolades."These are the games you want to be involved in. They don't come bigger than that - a Champions League semi-final at Old Trafford. I can't wait," said Giggs."But I'm more interested in beating Arsenal rather than the 800th appearance."They are things I'll look back upon when I finish and I'll be proud. But first and foremost, hopefully I'll be celebrating with a good result."Giggs is hopeful victory over Arsenal will put him on course to land a third European crown and he believes the current United squad are more than capable of securing continental glory.Potential"We did the double with the Champions League and Premier League last season and are going well this year," he added."I always said that this team has potential because it is more or less a young team, apart from three or four of us. It has massive potential to keep winning."Success with United over the years has helped Giggs to overcome the disappointment of failing to reach a major international tournament with Wales, but the 35-year-old insists he has no regrets looking back over his distinguished career."Not playing in the World Cup is not a regret, it's just that Wales have never been good enough. We got close twice, 1994 and with Mark Hughes (2002)," he said."I grew up watching the World Cup and you want to be part of it but I have no complaints about my career."Giggs is now planning for life after his playing days draw to a close and has already begun working towards his coaching badges."The coaching is going well, I've done the A Licence last season, we've finished the course now and have just got to get on the pitch and do some coaching," he said."It's difficult with the games coming thick and fast but hopefully I'll get my full badges very soon."
