No offers yet for Benitez

PSV Eindhoven have not joined Wigan in the race to sign Christian Benitez, according to Santos Laguna president Alejandro Irarragorri. The 22-year-old Ecuadorean has been a long-term target for Steve Bruce and it is believed the Latics could make a summer swoop to bring the striker to the JJB Stadium.Reports have recently surfaced that Dutch power PSV may be preparing to make a bid of their own. Although Irarragorri admits that the interest in Benitez is high, he insists that he has not been approached by PSV."There has been no approach," he told Medio Tiempo."As I have always said, Benitez is a great player and I have complete faith in his ability to go far because he has great commitment to this team. "There is interest from many teams, but that story is not accurate." Irarragorri did not rule out the possibility that Benitez could be heading to Europe in the near future but stated that the Mexican club has not yet received a serious offer for the striker. He added: "There have been approaches from Wigan and many other teams, but so far there has not been anything formal."
