Cesc 'desperate' for final chance

Cesc Fabregas admits he is 'desperate' to play in the World Cup final, but understands if he is left out of the Spain team to face Holland. Arsenal captain Fabregas has yet to start a match in South Africa, with the likes of Xabi Alonso and Sergio Busquets keeping the midfielder out of the team.Fabregas concedes it 'hurts' not to be in Vicente del Bosque's starting line-up ahead of Spain's bid to add the world crown to the European Championship success of two years ago.Del Bosque is unlikely to tinker with a winning formula for Sunday's showdown with the Oranje, but Fabregas is eager to at least play some part in Johannesburg."I'm so proud Spain is in the World Cup final, but it means nothing if we don't win it," Fabregas told The Sun."I am desperate to play at least some part in tomorrow's game. "What player on the planet wouldn't be? It's everything we dream of from the moment we start kicking a ball to the moment we learn all about the world's greatest football tournament. "I can't deny it has hurt not to be in Spain's starting line-ups throughout this tournament. But I only have to look at our incredible players - and especially our midfielders - to realise I'm so honoured to be part of this magnificent Spanish side. "Of course I believe I can play a part in making history for our country, which has never won a World Cup before. "If I'm lucky enough to get a start, I will give everything I have. But if I have to start on the bench, then so be it. All I can pray for is that I get a chance to play some part of this unbelievable game. "If I'm not in the team, I will know deep down that Spain winning the World Cup is more important than Cesc Fabregas starting the game or not. "So I will still be 100 per cent behind the boys who do go out there. And I will be thinking about what I will do, what I must do if I come on. "To just be a part of a World Cup final would be beyond belief, the stuff of dreams. That's why I just can't wait for tomorrow."
