Bradford youngster Luke Dean is expected to be sidelines for around 10 weeks after suffering a suspected broken leg during the friendly fixture at Eccleshill United.
Dean was carried off on a stretcher after he was hurt in a nasty-looking challenge after less than half an hour.
The early prognosis is that Dean, who recently signed a six-month contract, has a broken tibia and will be out for between two and three months.
"I thought it was a poor challenge. I thought it was too aggressive and too high. For a game like this, it was unnecessary," boss Peter Taylor told the Telegraph & Argus.
"Luke has got a six-month opportunity here and was going to work extremely hard in pre-season. He has done brilliant so far and I really feel for him."
