Everton boss David Moyes was pleased with his side's showing in the 1-0 win over Sydney FC in their first pre-season game in Australia.
Striker Victor Anichebe scored a minute into the second half, receiving a pass from Leighton Baines and turning well before shooting into the roof of the net.
Australia international Tim Cahill received a tremendous reception from the 40,000 strong crowd inside the ANZ Stadium when he came on at half-time.
"I thought we played well against a decent side," Moyes told evertontv. "They are a bit ahead of us in their pre-season but the players played well.
"The way we passed it looked a lot like the way we were playing towards the end of last season.
"We controlled most of the game but they were a bit of a threat. They weren't a poor team by any means, I actually think they were one of the better teams we have played in pre-season."
