Heffernan sits out Rovers' run-in

The 27-year-old has helped Rovers secure safety in their first season in the Championship with 10 goals from 19 starts but will miss their remaining fixtures to have a cartilage operation.Midfielder Mark Wilson will also sit out the final couple of games with a torn calf, joining Heffernan, James O'Connor, Brian Stock and James Coppinger in the treatment room."Paul has had a bit of a problem for a while," manager Sean O'Driscoll told the Doncaster Free Press. "He's going in to have the operation straight away now that we know we will be playing Championship football again next season."Mark Wilson will also miss the last two matches with a torn calf muscle."With Heffernan ruled out it could force O'Driscoll to name a youthful strike force against Crystal Palace on Saturday, with teenagers Waide Fairhurst and Kazenga LuaLua set to start.
