Beckford prepared to bide his time

Everton new boy Jermaine Beckford accepts he will not just walk into David Moyes' first team and will have to fight for his place this season. Beckford carved out his name in lower league football but is now in the big time following a free transfer switch from Leeds. The former non-league striker knows there are areas he must improve, but feels Everton is the perfect club to help him grow."Personally I felt like this is one of the clubs that I could learn a lot from," Beckford told Sky Sports News."I've got a good chance of hopefully playing with some of the best players in the world. That's just something that drew me in."I'm willing to learn. I'm not looking to just jump straight into the starting XI. I'm not silly."I'm hoping to learn a lot and fingers crossed I'll be on the bench and take it one step at a time."Meanwhile, team-mate Victor Anichebe hopes his added versatility will enable him to feature more under Moyes in the new campaign. The Nigeria international operated on both flanks last season and feels he has adapted well to what the manager has asked of him."I showed a bit of versatility that I can go and play on the right. I can play on the left," explained Anichebe."I think I did well towards the end of the season playing in those positions."It was new to me, but I think I handled it well. Hopefully that's just going to add to my game. I can only reap the benefits of it."
