Rafa has Reds on right track

Rafa Benitez believes his Liverpool side are displaying all the characteristics of potential Premier League champions. Unfortunately for the Anfield outfit it may be too late for them to prevail in this season's title race.A 4-4 draw with Arsenal on Tuesday encapsulated the finer points of the English top-flight, with both teams giving a thrilling demonstration of attacking football, but saw the Reds open the door to rivals Manchester United. That performance was by no means a one-off for the hosts, as they have been red-hot in front of goal of late, but once again they allowed vital points to slip away in a game they really should have won.Benitez is refusing to concern himself with that fact at present, though, preferring to focus on the positives that can be taken from a run of results which has seen his side dash any suggestion that they favour a cautious approach to generating results."There is not really [a change of emphasis]. The understanding between the players is better," said the Spanish coach."This week we were talking in training sessions and we could see the team were playing with a lot of confidence."We didn't need to say anything because they knew what to do."Because we have been practising so many times during the season the players know now what to do."For me we have the same mentality, the difference now is we play better. We have more confidence and we can score more goals."AnxietyWhile little criticism can be levelled at Liverpool's attacking unit at present, a leaky defence has given cause for concern.Benitez accepts as much and is keen to see any issues ironed out as the club look to bring to an end their 19-year wait for a top-flight title."Sometimes you play with a bit of anxiety and you make mistakes," he said."It is something we have to manage if we want to keep going until the end of the season."We showed against Arsenal we are a good team with a good mentality and great character but also I think we have to improve."It is difficult to know where the title challenge lies because you never know what will happen in the next game."We know we have to keep going in every single game and see what happens at the end."
