Kightly bowed out of the club's promotion-winning campaign after grabbing a dramatic winner against Nottingham Forest on March 21 - breaking his metatarsal in a training ground friendly at Compton shortly after.
But his earlier than expected absence has allowed him to bring forward a scheduled hip operation, meaning he will be available for the start of pre-season training.
"I needed the hip done at the end of the season so maybe there's a positive that I've had it done a few weeks earlier," the England Under-21 man told the club's official website.
"Doing the foot brought the whole process forward which, looking at it now, means I'll definitely be fit for pre-season and that's a good positive to take out of it. It's given me a little head start and I've already improved massively in the last week.
"The hip operation stems from a problem I've had for a few years now, it was something I needed doing."
