Quakers invite kids to coaching day

Darlington'S first pre-season friendly against Sunderland is only ten days away and the club is inviting young supporters to take part in the matchday experience. Quakers' Saturday Soccer Skills Club will take place for the first time, an event that will see youngsters take part in a 90-minute coaching session followed by the match at The Northern Echo Arena. Former Darlington player Neil Maddison, the club's centre of excellence manager, has teamed up with Hummersknott School in the town to arrange the day for seven to 12-year-olds. It promises to be a cracking day for all the children, said Maddison, who played more than 100 games for his hometown club. It's not just about playing football, either. It's a good chance for the more developed players to enhance their skills with us, but it's also an excellent opportunity for youngsters looking to start out or just have a fun day out. And for parents it's peace of mind knowing their children are being taken care of by qualified people in a safe environment while they give themselves a break! The day, which costs £15, starts at 11am and includes coaching at Hummersknott School followed by the Darlington versus Sunderland match on Saturday, July 17 (ko 3pm). All children can be collected from the ground and must take their own shirt, shorts, socks, trainers, warm clothes, shin pads, plenty of drinks and a packed lunch.
