Cherries: Mitchell quashes Pitman transfer talk

CHAIRMAN Eddie Mitchell has this afternoon played down fresh speculation linking star striker Brett Pitman with a move away from Dean Court. Mitchell confirmed the club had received no bids for the talented frontman - or any other players - after reports suggested he could be a target for Blackpool. The Premier League new boys were today linked with a potential £700,000 swoop for 22-year-old Pitman, whose reputation rose after his prolific goalscoring led Cherries to promotion last season. Jerseyman Pitman is also rumoured to have caught the eye of Championship sides Reading and Bristol City, while Peterborough United showed an interest last term. But when asked whether there was any truth in the latest transfer talk, Mitchell told the Echo: "Not that I know of. "We've not had an approach by them that I know of - and I'm sure I would have known. "No, there's no truth in that at all at the moment."
