Boyd on the brink of move to Boro

Outgoing Rangers striker Kris Boyd has revealed he has agreed to join former Celtic manager Gordon Strachan at Middlesbrough. The 26-year old's future has been the subject of intense speculation since he confirmed plans to quit Rangers at the end of last season. He was linked with several clubs south of the border, as well as a lucrative switch to Turkey. But the striker expects a two-year deal with Boro to be completed on Sunday. He told the Sunday Mail: "I'm delighted to finally have my future sorted out."I've had a few offers to consider and it's been a case of talking to my family about the positives and negatives of each one. Middlesbrough have always been very appealing. Strachan has big plans and has made me feel wanted."Everything has just about been agreed and I will go through my medical. I don't envisage any problems and I'm looking forward to starting my Boro career."Former Rangers striker John MacDonald believes Boyd can be a big hit on Teesside.MacDonald told the Daily Mail: "The Championship is not a step down in terms of the standard of defences."Boyd is used to scoring for fun in the SPL. I wonder if that would probably be the kind of level to get him scoring and settled into the English game before moving on up."
