City offer trio in bid for Arteta - Report

Manchester City are reportedly planning to offer Stephen Ireland, Nedum Onioha and Michael Johnson to Everton in a bid to land Mikel Arteta. According to reports in the News of the World, City boss Roberto Mancini is so determined to land the Spanish playmaker that he is willing to sacrifice the unsettled trio.Despite City's swollen midfield, they still want to add the Spanish playmaker to their ranks, with Mancini feeling his creative eye could make a huge difference to their title challenge.Arteta, 28, is one of the most accomplished players in the Premier League but doubts have emerged over his future on Merseyside following his failure to break into the Spanish national team. The Toffees would be loathe to lose Arteta, but are known to have made enquiries for City defender Onuoha, so could be tempted to listen to City's proposals.Everton boss David Moyes has been tracking the former England Under-21 defender for some time and values his versatility.
