Harry - I could have retired

Harry Redknapp has revealed that he could well have retired if Tottenham had been relegated this season. The Spurs boss took over at White Hart Lane six months ago and has guided the side from rock-bottom to safety. But he admits that he would probably have retired if he had failed to keep Spurs in the top flight. His admission comes despite an assurance from Spurs chairman Daniel Levy that he wanted him at the helm next season even if they were in the Championship.FinishedRedknapp said: "I would have been finished here, I wouldn't have stayed. I told Daniel when I signed a contract that I'd leave if we got relegated. I probably would have called it a day, in all honesty."Redknapp's side face Newcastle on Sunday in a crucial game being shown live on Sky Sports 1 and HD1 at 1.30pm.The Spurs boss - who was linked with the Newcastle post after Sam Allardyce was sacked last season - believes it is make-or-break time for Magpies counterpart Alan Shearer if he wants to remain in management."If he doesn't go with it now, I don't know if there will be tomorrows for him," Redknapp said."This was always his job, everyone who went there said Alan will eventually take over. Where does he go from Newcastle?"
