QPR midfielder Gavin Mahon is hoping he can prove his fitness and earn a new deal at Loftus Road.
The 33-year-old, who is out of contract this summer, has yet to play under new manager Neil Warnock after undergoing knee surgery back in November.
But after being invited back for pre-season by Warnock, Mahon is determined to make the most of his chance as he does not want to move to another club.
Mahon told the Uxbridge Gazette: "I had a meeting with Neil and he told me that he had tried to sign me before and that he liked me as a player. But he needs to see me fit and I understand that completely.
"He said that I should come back in pre-season and show him the kind of player that he thinks I can be. If I do that then there will be something here for me.
"If if I moved somewhere else then I would have to get myself fit regardless, but I want to stay here as I believe that the club could take off next season."
