Pulis under no pressure to make money

Stoke chairman Peter Coates has assured Tony Pulis he is under no pressure to sell before spending the club's money this summer. Stoke opened the Britannia Stadium exit door for the first time on Thursday morning when club captain Andy Griffin joined Reading and a number of fellow fringe players are expected to follow him.Steve Simonsen is looking increasingly likely to join Sheffield United, Liam Lawrence is closing in on a move to Celtic, and the likes of James Beattie, Dave Kitson, Michael Tonge are also on the market.Pulis, though, is not under pressure to trim his squad - despite the 25 player limit for next season - before he can buy.Coates told the Stoke Sentinel: "We are looking to generate money from players going out, but we can still (make signings)."There hasn't been all that much serious interest in players at any football club at this stage but I think that will change as the World Cup finishes. "I would be surprised if we don't see some changes here with players coming in and out."The first arrival is likely to be Joe Ledley after his contract at Cardiff expired today and Coates confirmed Pulis is "involved in progressing" the deal.Pulis also wants to sign at least one striker - Carlton Cole, Emile Heskey and Andy Carroll are all targets - while further reinforcements will be sought in midfield.Joe Ledley is expected to sign in the coming days after his contract at Cardiff expired and Pulis wants to follow up that signing with another midfielder, a winger and two strikers.while the likes of Carlton Cole, Mark Noble, Emile Heskey, Andy Carroll
