Pack pens new Portsmouth contract

Portsmouth midfielder Marlon Pack has signed a new one-year contract to keep him at Fratton Park until June 2011. Pack, who came through the youth ranks at Pompey, has enjoyed time on loan at Wycombe and Dagenham. He told the club's official website: "There is a new manager at the club now and we are going into a new season of football. Everyone starts as equals and I'm looking forward to the challenge."Elsewhere, manager Steve Cotterill has had talks with out-of-contract goalkeeper David James, who is considering a contract offer from the Championship club.Cotterill added: "I had a chat with David James the other day and I'll probably have another chat with him next week. At the moment he needs to shut off because he's had a lot of football. He needs to have a bit of a rest."It would be nice for David to be here next season, but let's not get carried away - he's a top goalkeeper and in demand. How in demand he is from other clubs I'm not sure, but we'd like him to be here. We live in hope."
