Pompey youngster set to reject Robins

Portsmouth midfielder Matt Ritchie is hopeful of signing a new deal with the club as he prepares to reject a potential switch to Swindon Town. Robins manager Danny Wilson made a permanent move for the 20-year-old winger back in January before eventually bringing him to the County Ground on loan, where he remained for six weeks before being recalled by the South-Coast club for the close of last season.Wilson admitted Ritchie would be back on his radar again this summer but, due to Portsmouth's relegation and need to sell their star names, it appears the youngster has a prominent role to play at Fratton Park and he is willing to show what he can do.Ritchie told The News: "There's been a few sniffs around me but, to be honest, I want to stay here."I've been offered a two-year deal and there is a bit of negotiating to do still. Hopefully we can get that sorted and I can play for Portsmouth in the Championship. I want to prove myself and be a local boy playing for the team he loves to play for."I will give 120% every week. Hopefully I will get the chance to prove myself. It's going to be a big year for me in the Championship. Hopefully I can play and turn myself into a big player for us."
