Edgar keen to build on fresh start

David Edgar wants to put last term's frustrations behind him and make his mark at Burnley. The Canadian defender moved to Turf Moor from Newcastle last summer but found it difficult to break into the first team plans of Owen Coyle or current boss Brian Laws.An end of season loan spell at Swansea allowed Edgar to find his feet again and he hopes to make an impression when the Clarets squad returns to pre-season training on July 1."It's a clean slate, a chance to play and hopefully get in the gaffer's mind to start come the start of the season," Edgar told the Lancashire Telegraph."It was good to get those games in the Championship at the back end of the season and find out what the league was all about. It was difficult but I was getting my head down and playing some games to hopefully doing enough to get in the gaffer's mind here."I am going to give it a right go, hopefully have a good pre-season and go from there. There's going to be a lot of competition but that's the only way to better yourself in football."
