Strachan won't get down on Brown

The Scotland midfielder was handed a yellow card in the 44th minute for a two-footed tackle on Thomas Scobbie, taking him through the disciplinary threshold.Brown's suspension and an injury to Georgios Samaras were the only downsides of a resounding victory for Celtic, for whom Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink scored his second SPL goal in five days. The former Hibs star will miss the first two games after the split and, with the SPL keen to avoid a potential title decider, one of those is likely to be the Old Firm showdown at Ibrox.Brown will miss more than one match because of the SFA's cumulative punishment system, which takes previous misdemeanours into account. And Strachan feels he will be harshly punished after cleaning up his act."That's the way it goes, that's life," Strachan said. "His discipline has been good this year. He gets punished for things that happened years ago."The Celtic manager was otherwise happy with his side's victory, which keeps them three points ahead of Rangers. They also moved four clear on goal difference after Aiden McGeady and Darren O'Dea both netted in the final 12 minutes."I'm delighted with the way we played when we were 1-0 up," Strachan said."There were few chances before the goal but we played well after that. Sometimes you can be nervous when it's only 1-0 but we didn't look nervous."We had a lot of good performances. Aiden was special and I thought Jan was absolutely terrific. He was a threat."Samaras will miss Saturday's visit to Hearts but Strachan does not expect him to be out for long."He's got a quad strain at the top of his thigh but the doctor said he's still got some strength in it so it's not too bad," the Celtic boss said.Falkirk boss John Hughes admitted his side were well beaten."We looked lively in the first 15 minutes and had a couple of shots at goal but in the end they were too good for us," Hughes said."I'm disappointed to lose four goals. Goal difference could come into account in the relegation battle."Steven Pressley went off in the 20th minute with a groin injury and Scobbie hurt his foot during Brown's challenge and both are doubtful for Falkirk's trip to Kilmarnock.
