Home start in tough August

Nottingham Forest, Ipswich Town, Leicester City and Swansea City provide the tough opening to the 2010/11 season for Burnley in the npower Championship. It's a home start against Nottingham Forest who finished last season in third place before losing in the play off semi-finals against Blackpool. They are expected to be one of the favourites again this year.Ipswich had a difficult start last season but recovered and are thought to be another club who could mount a promotion bid. They provide us with our first away game of the season before a home game against Leicester and a trip to Swansea complete the first month. There is a familiarity about Boxing Day. For the fourth time this Millennium we will play Barnsley, and this will be our third Boxing Day trip to Oakwell. In 2000 and 2006 we were beaten 1-0 at a ground where we haven't won since the 1930s. Maybe this season is the time and if so we could record our first away Boxing Day win since 1972.Scunthorpe, Sheffield United and Reading complete the Christmas/New Year programme this year with the home game against the Blades on New Year's Day.For those fans who travel to away games the midweek trips this coming season are not too bad. Middlesbrough, Doncaster, Hull and Nottingham Forest provide the opposition for the Tuesday night games. And the league season ends, for the third successive year, with a home game against Cardiff City.Other key dates see us host Preston on 11th September whilst we travel to Deepdale on 26th February.Burnley's full npower Championship fixtures are as follows:DateOpponentsVenSat 07 AugNottingham ForesthSat 14 AugIpswich TownaSat 21 AugLeicester CityhSat 28 AugSwansea CityaSat 11 SepPreston North EndhTue 14 SepMiddlesbroughaSat 18 SepCrystal PalaceaSat 25 SepBristol CityhTue 28 SepHull CityhSat 02 OctMillwallaSat 16 OctSheffield UnitedaTue 19 OctBarnsleyhSat 23 OctReadinghSat 30 OctQueens Park RangersaSat 06 NovNorwich CityaTue 09 NovDoncaster RovershSat 13 NovWatfordhSat 20 NovCoventry CityaSat 27 NovDerby CountyhSat 04 DecPortsmouthaSat 11 DecLeeds UnitedhSat 18 DecCardiff CityaSun 26 DecBarnsleyaTue 28 DecScunthorpe UnitedhSat 01 JanSheffield UnitedhTue 03 JanReadingaSat 15 JanQueens Park RangershSat 22 JanScunthorpe UnitedaTue 01 FebDoncaster RoversaSat 05 FebNorwich CityhSat 12 FebWatfordaSat 19 FebCoventry CityhTue 22 FebMiddlesbroughhSat 26 FebPreston North EndaSat 05 MarCrystal PalacehTue 08 MarHull CityaSat 12 MarMillwallhSat 19 MarBristol CityaSat 02 AprIpswich TownhSat 09 AprLeicester CityaTue 12 AprNottingham ForestaSat 16 AprSwansea CityhSat 23 AprDerby CountyaMon 25 AprPortsmouthhSat 30 AprLeeds UnitedaSun 08 MayCardiff CityhReproduced under licence from Football DataCo Limited.
