Pulis hails Shearer move

Stoke boss Tony Pulis believes Alan Shearer's appointment at Newcastle will provide a massive boost for their relegation rivals. Shearer was confirmed as St James' Park boss until the end of the season on Wednesday as Joe Kinnear continues his recovery from heart surgery.Newcastle and Stoke find themselves involved in the battle to avoid the drop with the Magpies currently sitting third from bottom two points adrift of safety.Pulis believes Shearer's return will help unite everyone at the club at such a crucial stage of the season."I think it is great appointment for Newcastle," Pulis told Sky Sports News."I think the club, looking from the outside, has been a little fragmented."When you have got people from down South running a club up in the North East then that's got be a difficult situation."So Alan going in there, he is a legend up there, it is almost like the (Kevin) Keegan factor in lots of respects."For the football club it will bring everybody together, it will unite everybody and certainly outside the football club and on the terraces."I think it is a great move for Newcastle and it is up to him [Shearer] to get on with it."
