THE INSIDER: Tottenham bide time on expensive Edinson Cavani - plus more gosspip

Simon Jones is Sportsmail's man on the inside of all the major transfer moves this summer.   His column, published every weekday, offers an insight into the deals which will be done and those that won't - and why. A 5/5-rating  means The Insider reckons it's a done deal; 0/5 means The Insider has his mortgage on it not happening.Don't miss your daily instalment of The Insider every weekday through the transfer window here at MailOnline. On the move: NugentDavid NugentPortsmouth to Rangers - The Insider says: 2/5The 25-year-old one time England international will leave Portsmouth this summer and has a few possible options. Rangers are interested but Nugent would have to take a pay cut and Portsmouth would prefer to have more cash than Rangers can offer. Nugent would kickstart his carer in Scotland, where goals are easier to find, and has the added carrot of playing in the Champions League. However, Nugent believes he can establish himself in the Premier League and is hopeful that Bolton come in with an offer.Portsmouth want around £2.5million for the ex-Preston man and other clubs will be tempted though maybe towards the end of the window.Rangers will look at alternatives including former Wigan target Georgie Welcome.Earning his Spurs? Palermo's Edinson Cavani (right) is also tempting CityEdinson CavaniPalermo to Tottenham - The Insider says: 2/5 Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has a couple of targets in mind this summer but his priority is getting the right striker in. He and his scouting staff like Cavani, Radamel Falcao, Edin Dzeko, Diego Forlan, Vincenzo Iaquinta and Luis Fabiano but there are pros and cons to each. Primarily the concerns revolve around budget, age and value for money. Cavani is expensive at £25m and Manchester City have also posted an interest in the 23-year-old to put a sparkle in the eyes of the Palermo president - so a deal would not be straight forward. Redknapp is a fan but may need to offload Robbie Keane and Roman Pavlyuchenko before he can bring in what he wants. City defender Micah Richards remains on his possible incomings too.Goodison goodbye: Yakubu (right) is on his way to West HamYakubu Everton to West Ham - The Insider says: 4/5Everton manager David Moyes wants to add a new dimension to his attack next season and may be forced to make sacrifices to finance that. Yakubu is a big crowd favourite but has obviously struggled to regain his old sharpness following his serious Achilles injury suffered 18 months ago. He scored six goals last season in over 30 appearances but struggled again towards the end of the season. West Ham manager Avram Grant knows Yakubu well though and is looking for someone who can guarantee Premier League goals whether alongside Carlton Cole, Thierry Henry or someone else. West Ham have made two bids with the latest, at £7m, being rejected. One more push may do the trick with Everton keen on Craig Bellamy, Martin Petrov and others.Marlon HarewoodAston Villa to Celtic - The Insider says: 3/5Harewood is battling back to full fitness after breaking a metatarsal while training in January. The 30-year-old represents a decent free transfer as he is powerful and quick and still has a few years left in his locker. He has often proved that with a run of games he can build up confidence and be a handful. Frustrated: Harewood (right) has had few opportunities to impress at Villa Park He has interest from abroad, notably Turkey, and Championship sides such as Sheffield United and Portsmouth. But Celtic also have him in mind as they weigh up potential targets - again limited by what they can spend. Neil Lennon is determined to make Celtic a potent attacking force again and Harewood's barnstorming style would get the fans going and he would fit into their budget. Like Nugent, Harewood may have better offers towards the end of the window.  More from Simon Jones - The Insider. THE INSIDER: Manchester City set to miss out on Milos Krasic, Stoke to take Hull defender Steven Mouyokolo and Portsmouth eye up Norway international10/06/10 THE INSIDER: Sebastien not on his Frey to Aston Villa, Tuncay ready to swap Stoke for Sunderland, Chelsea eyeing up Germany star09/06/10 THE INSIDER: Arsenal want Yaya Toure to keep Cesc Fabregas, Spurs waver on £15m Falcao and Phillipe Senderos to Fulham08/06/10 THE INSIDER: Bolton face battle to sign Manchester City's Martin Petrov, Birmingham in for Ryan Babel and Jermaine Jenas must weigh up Spurs future07/06/10 THE INSIDER: Manchester City on track in David Silva chase, Spurs to send Roman Pavlyuchenko home but Aiden McGeady unlikely to join Russians04/06/10 THE INSIDER: Fernando Torres staying at Liverpool, Manchester United still tracking Michel Bastos as Fulham close in on Frederic Piquionne03/06/10 THE INSIDER: Real Madrid deal still on the cards for Steven Gerrard, Boaz Myhill set for West Brom and Aston Villa to snap up Stepehen Ireland02/06/10 THE INSIDER: Spurs struggle for Everton's Steven Pienaar, Wigan cool on Mauro Boselli, Fulham put high price on Bobby Zamora01/06/10 VIEW FULL ARCHIVECity
