Cats poised for double signing

SUNDERLAND boss Steve Bruce expects to make a twin transfer breakthrough in the next couple of days with Argentina international right-back Marcos Angeleri and Belgium Under-21 goalkeeper Simon Mignolet poised to agree terms with the Wearside outfit. Bruce turned his attentions to £3m-rated Angeleri after being put off by Tottenham's refusal to lower their £9m asking price for Alan Hutton. Despite Hutton impressing while on loan at the Stadium of Light last season, Sunderland were unwilling to match Spurs' valuation. Angeleri, 27, boasts almost 200 appearances for Argentine Primera Division side Estudiantes and was a surprise omission from Diego Maradona's World Cup squad. Mignolet will provide back-up to first choice keeper Craig Gordon next season after Sunderland agreed a fee thought to be around £2m with Belguim's St-Truidense.
