Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp eager to extend contract

Redknapp has just one year of his original contract remaining with Tottenham and, having distanced himself from the vacancy at Liverpool, wants to speak to Daniel Levy, the Spurs chairman. 'I have only got one year left,' said Redknapp, 'and I expect to talk to Daniel and I am sure we'll get something sorted out.'Redknapp, who is spending eight days at the World Cup finals in South Africa, has enjoyed unprecedented success since arriving at Spurs from Portsmouth in October 2008, as replacement for Juande Ramos. Spurs were bottom of the Premier League when he arrived but Redknapp took them to the Carling Cup final, losing to Manchester United on penalties. They also came close to qualifying for Europe but made amends in the season just finished, claiming fourth place and booking a spot in next season's Champions League. Redknapp confirmed that former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole could be part of his European squad, adding: 'The chairman has spoken to Joe's agent, but Joe doesn't want to commit until after the World Cup. 'We'll see but it will probably down to money.'
