Cudicini Surprised By Sluggish Blues

Carlo Cudicini has admitted he was surprised by how ordinary his former club Chelsea looked when his Tottenham side beat them 1-0 last week. The Italian moved to north London in January after spending close to four seasons behind Petr Cech in the pecking order. After initially dislodging Heurelho Gomes at White Hart Lane, the 35-year-old has found himself back on the bench in recent weeks.Cudicini had to watch from the sidelines when the Blues visited in the Premier League last weekend, and the goalkeeper was unimpressed with what his ex-colleagues, now under the leadership of Guus Hiddink, had to offer."Of course I was surprised by the result," he told the Daily Star."I didn't expect Tottenham to win the game but I was more surprised by the way Chelsea played."It was a bit slow, without much pace. Apart from the last 20 minutes or so, where of course Chelsea put us under pressure, there was nothing really special about the performance."They looked a bit tired."Cudicini also touched on his switch to Spurs and added that he realised it was time to end his Stamford Bridge career."Sometimes there is a time when you need to change and this time it wasn't just my decision," he admitted."My contract was running out at the end of the season and the club never really asked me to extend it."In the end I felt I had the chance to move to a club with great history and where they were giving me a chance to fight for my place. So I thought it was the right thing to do."
