Thank you, Fabregas! Barcelona chief reminds Arsenal that Cesc wants to come home

Barcelona's decision to wage a quiet assault in their bid to land Cesc Fabregas has lasted less than a week.Nou Camp president Joan Laporta has risked riling Arsenal yet further by publicly thanking the Spain midfielder for expressing a desire to join his side. The two clubs remain some distance apart in their valuations of Fabregas, but Barcelona are still keen to do a deal before the World Cup finals, upping the public pressure in a bid to break the impasse. Red alert: Barca hope that the days of seeing Fabregas (left) in an Arsenal shirt are coming to an endThe Spanish champions indicated they would open the bidding at £30million, while the Gunners set the bar high by comparing him to £80m Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo.Laporta insists there is room to compromise and signalled he was not about to give up the struggle to repatriate a player who came through his club's youth ranks.'We are being prudent in the sense that we are not going to do thingsthat are not logical,' Laporta told reporters in Spain.'We have a player who has expressed his intention of coming to Barcelona. He (Fabregas) has said it and I want to thank him publicly for that decision. One down: Laporta (left) welcomes David Villa to the Nou Camp earlier this month'We are working on it (his signing). We will try to achieve his signature and if we don't get there with time, at least we will have opened a path.'The possibility is always there but the other part (Arsenal) has to defend their interests and perhaps has a different strategy.'We are trying to find a halfway point for both sides to agree.'With Yaya Toure seemingly on his way out of the Nou Camp, Barca would also like to sign Javier Mascherano from Liverpool. However, if the price goes too high for Fabregas, they will struggle to shell out another £30m demanded at Anfield for the Argentina skipper.  Barcelona's courtship of Fabregas could scupper fresh Mascherano moveBarcelona issue Fabregas warning: We will not pay over the odds, says LaportaArsenal inquire about Joe Cole while Chelsea line-up £15m right-back SrnaTottenham and Arsenal on alert as Lyon's Makoun says future is in doubtARSENAL FC
