Laursen refusing to give up

Martin Laursen insists UEFA Champions League qualification remains a realistic target for Aston Villa this season. Martin O'Neill's side have failed to win in the Premier League since 7th February, with their winless run in all competitions stretched to eight games. They have allowed Arsenal to overtake them in the race for fourth spot, with their Champions League dreams beginning to fade fast. Laursen, though, is adamant that Villa can accumulate enough points from their last eight fixtures to pip the Gunners at the post. "Of course it doesn't look great, but we still have a chance," the Danish defender told Onside. "There are still eight games left, and Arsenal have some difficult games to come, so we are still believing." Laursen is also refusing to read too much into Villa's 5-0 humbling at Liverpool last time out, believing the players will bounce back in their next game. "That was, of course, too many goals to let in, but Liverpool are strong right now and there wasn't really much we could do about it," he said.
