Cherries: Bartley vows to be ready after operation

Cherries star Marvin Bartley is vowing to be fighting fit for the start of pre-season training after recovering from surgery. The combative midfielder recently went under the knife to cure a nagging groin problem which had troubled him towards the end of last season. Despite his discomfort, Bartley managed to play through the pain barrier and was one of Cherries' star performers during the closing stages of their epic promotion campaign. The 23-year-old told the Daily Echo: I started having a few problems about six or seven weeks before the end of the season. I was getting pains in my groin on the left-hand side and my running and kicking were restricted. I played through it for a while before Steve Hard (Cherries' physio) sent me to the doctor. He tested me and confirmed it was a hernia. I then went to see a specialist in Manchester and he said he would operate a few days after the season had ended. I had it done a couple of weeks ago and it feels fine. I was okay in games but just had to manage it in training. When I felt it, I just had to stop. Sometimes, I would feel it in matches but the adrenaline got me through. I'm on the way back now and will be ready for the start of pre-season. I will be able to do pretty much everything in the next 10 days so I'll be fine in six weeks.
