Black Cats step up Mignolet pursuit

Sunderland will this weekend try to persuade highly-rated St Truidense goalkeeper Simon Mignolet to snub PSV Eindhoven for a move to Wearside. Neither Sunderland nor PSV have agreed a fee with St Truidense for Mignoley but the Belgium Under-21 international has confirmed he is heading to the north east.He told Belgian newspaper Het Belang van Limburg: "The idea is to talk to people and see the facilities."His agent Guy Vandersmissen added: "Sunderland continue to be very interested. But logically we will visit the club before we take further steps and talk about a contract."We will see how Simon feels after this visit. We stress however that PSV remain a candidate."
