In 2008 he joined Werder Bremen for 3.4 million euros and signed a contract to stay at the club until 2011. Ozil has made himself a first-team regular at Bremen, and his performances have prompted speculation linking him to some of Europe's biggest clubs - including Arsenal and Liverpool.     At international level, Ozil was part of the German U21 side who won the European Championships in 2009 and made his full debut in February the same year.
