Cherries: Partington desperate to hold down team place

Cherries prospect Joe Partington is vowing to knuckle down and push for a first team place as he looks to forget an injury-plagued campaign. The youth international endured a tough time with injuries last term and was restricted to just four starts as Cherries secured promotion from League Two. He will again face tough competition for a starting berth in his natural midfield role from the likes of Anton Robinson, Danny Hollands and Marvin Bartley, all of whom excelled during Cherries' run-in. Partington, though, is hoping to show what he can do. He told the Echo: Everyone comes back to pre-season with a clean slate and, if I can perform well in pre-season and show some consistency in my performances, then there's no reason why I can't be in the team. Getting in the team has been my main target for the past couple of seasons and that will be no different for this season coming. That will be the thing I'll be working most on. Reflecting on last season, he added: I had a couple of injuries and, at the time, I maybe could have been in the team because there were quite a lot of injuries at the same time.
