Costa Rica thrash USA to leave Jurgen Klinsmann's side bottom of CONCACAF group

The United States are in danger of failing to qualify for a World Cup for the first time since 1986 after losing 4-0 in Costa Rica.The Stars and Stripes were beaten by Mexico in the CONCACAF round five opener, and now find themselves pointless and bottom of the group after two games.Johan Venegas gave Costa Rica the lead two minutes before half-time, and Jurgen Klinsmann's side capitulated late on as Christian Bolanos scored in the 69th minute and on-loan Arsenal forward Joel Campbell bagged a three-minute brace to complete the rout. The win sees Costa Rica top the six-team table with the only perfect record after two rounds of games.Mexico lie second after a goalless draw with third-placed Panama.Honduras picked up their first points of the campaign with a 3-1 win over Trinidad and Tobago.Romell Quioto and Emilio Izaguirre scored three minutes apart to put the home side in control, and although Carlyle Mitchell pulled a goal back for Trinidad and Tobago, Eddie Hernandez swealed the points 10 minutes from time.
