Bayern tight-lipped on Ribery deal talk

ayern Munich have refused to comment on reports suggesting Franck Ribery could sign a contract extension before this summer's World Cup. Speculation regarding the Frenchman's future has been doing the rounds for some time, with the talented playmaker yet to commit to the German giants. He is tied down at Allianz Arena until 2011, but Bayern have made it clear that they will look to cash in on him if he does not sign a new deal. That admission led to reports claiming Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester United and Barcelona were preparing big-money bids. However, with Bayern having landed the Bundesliga title and German Cup this season, and with the Champions League final still to come, he could yet be persuaded to stay on.It is claimed that a five-year contract could be agreed before this summer's World Cup finals, but for now Bayern are keeping tight-lipped on the matter, preferring to give their full focus to a continental showdown with Inter Milan on Saturday."The club management will give no comment or declaration tomorrow or today," said press chief Markus Horwick."Transfer news is communicated by the management and not the journalists. We are concentrating on tomorrow's match - players, management and everybody else."Bayern midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has also sought to steer clear of the issue, but admits he would be delighted to see Ribery sign on."These are rumours," he said. "Of course Frank Ribery is an excellent player and we'd love to keep him but if the Bayern Munich management haven't said anything, I can't say anything."Ribery has plenty of time to consider his options, as a reckless red card in a Champions League semi-final showdown with Lyon has ruled him out of Saturday's final in Madrid.
