Robins rubbish Maynard's Cottagers link

ristol City chairman Steve Lansdown has refuted claims that star striker Nicky Maynard is set to join Fulham this summer in a £4million deal. Reports this week suggested the Europa League runners-up were eying up the Robins striker as a potential replacement for Bobby Zamora, whose exploits this season have attracted Aston Villa and Everton. It had been touted that the Cottagers are prepared to offer £4million for Maynard, who scored 21 goals for the Championship outfit in the 2009-10 campaign. West Midlands duo Wolves and West Brom have also been linked with the 23-year-old goal-machine but Lansdown insists City have yet to receive a single enquiry for their prized asset."This is nothing more than press speculation and, just because something is reported in a newspaper, does not mean it is going to happen," he said in the Bristol Evening Post."I've seen the stories and I can assure our supporters we have not had any contact from Fulham, or any other club for that matter, with regard to Nicky Maynard."If Fulham or any other club wants to talk to us about one of our players, then they should contact us directly rather than go through the media."At this moment in time, there has been no interest shown by any club in any of our players."He added: "We know Nicky well and we know his agent and have a good relationship with him. He wouldn't be putting these stories about."
