Anelka close to new Blues deal

The agent of Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka is confident the France forward will soon put pen to paper on a new contract at Stamford Bridge. Anelka's current deal expires in 12 months' time but Chelsea had put talks regarding new deals for all their players on hold until after the end of the season. With the Blues having completed a Premier League-FA Cup Double at the weekend, Anelka's future at Stamford Bridge is now set to be resolved. The France international's agent Doug Pingisi has confirmed that discussions are ongoing and he is optimistic of a positive outcome."We are still in talks [about a new deal] and hopefully we will have news soon," Pingisi told skysports.com."He is happy at Chelsea and of course he wants to stay at Chelsea."Anelka joined Chelsea from Bolton Wanderers in January 2008 and he weighed in with 11 goals en route to Carlo Ancelotti's side winning the Premier League this season.Several of his team-mates have expressed a desire for the 31-year-old to stay at the club, with compatriot Florent Malouda stating that Anelka would have 'no hesitation' in signing an extension.
