Zaluska 'ready to be number one'

Celtic goalkeeper Lukasz Zaluska was satisfied with his personal impact in his debut season at Parkhead - but is desperate for some silverware. The Pole started 17 matches after joining fellow Polish goalkeeper and former Legia Warsaw team-mate Artur Boruc following his Bosman move from Dundee United. The 27-year-old, who will line up for Celtic in their friendly against St Pauli in Germany, now wants to become first-choice keeper and make up for a barren season on the trophy front.Zaluska told the club's website: "From a personal angle it has been a good season because I played 17 games, I played in Europe and was also involved in some important games in the league."I hope we're going to win something next season though."I'm sure we will win something and I also hope I'll be playing more games at the same time."But Artur is a legend here and that's why it's very difficult for me to play regularly."I'll have to wait and see what's happening next season but I know I'm ready to be number one."Nobody wants to be second keeper and that's why I work so hard every day."Celtic will have a strong squad in Germany featuring every fit player who is not on international duty. And Zaluska is eager for action in the match that helps marks the Hamburg club's centenary, despite the fact that most Scottish-based players are now on holiday."I want to play as often as possible and Tuesday night is no different," he said."But I think this game is not so much for us as a team of players but for the supporters."There is a good connection between the two clubs and I'm sure the fans will enjoy it. I hope there will be a good atmosphere and a full stadium."
