Pools set for O'Donovan talks

Director of sport Chris Turner has revealed Hartlepool will begin talks with Roy O'Donovan when the Sunderland striker returns from holiday. The 24-year-old, who scored nine goals in 15 appearances whilst on loan at Pools last season, is out of contract in the summer and has been linked with several Championship clubs. But Turner hopes to secure the Sunderland man's services permanently."Roy's away. He went on holiday after the Brentford game," he told the Sunderland Echo. "But he did a great job. I'll speak to him in due course to see what is happening. He's proved that that's the sort of striker we need. His nine goals played a major part in us finishing 16th until the points deduction."I have purposely not spoken to him during the season because he couldn't go anywhere else. I don't think you put pressure on people or show your hand. I just think that when he comes back off his holiday, I'll have a discussion with him."He may have five offers on the table from Championship clubs or so-called bigger clubs in this division who are rumoured to be looking. We may have a chance but his goals ratio is what you need to do well in this league and progress."
