Spurs star King admits he still dreams of playing for England despite knee woe

Tottenham centre back Ledley King is refusing to give up on England butadmits not training will make it difficult to revive his internationalcareer.Spurs boss Harry Redknapp rates his club captain as one of thebest defenders in the country but a chronic knee problem means the28-year-old only plays once a week and rests between matches, whichwould not suit tournament football.Back on top: Ledley King gets the better of Chelsea's Didier Drogba"I've not totally given up," King said. "It is something I'd haveto look at. When the situation comes we'll have to talk about it."Obviously it is a difficult situation because there aren't toomany players who play internationally who don't train. It's a bit of aunique situation."King has not spoken to England boss Fabio Capello himself but staff at Spurs have discussed the player with the Italian.The defender struggles to do any training between matches as his knee swells up and is painful."If you put a ball out there I'd play football, if you made me run around a track I'd be struggling," he said."Obviously I've come to accept the situation. At the moment I'mlearning to deal with it and I haven't given up hope that the knee willkeep improving."We will see what happens between know and the end of the season. Hopefully next season I can progress again and do a bit more."King hopes to play in the remaining games this season, with Spurslooking for a seventh-place finish that could lead to Europeanqualification."It shows, it's been a tight season and if you put a run togetheryou are going to be going places," King said.
