Piquionne keen for Premier League stay

Frederic Piquionne maintains his experiences at Portsmouth this season have made him hungry for another crack at the Premier League. The on-loan Lyon striker scored 11 goals for Pompey, but was not able to help the Fratton Park club to what would have been a fairytale FA Cup final win over Chelsea at Wembley on Saturday. The 31-year-old saw his close-range effort brilliantly saved by Petr Cech during the first half, with the Chelsea stopper also denying Kevin-Prince Boateng from the penalty spot before Didier Drogba's stunning free-kick secured an historic double for Carlo Ancelotti's men.Portsmouth are set for a rebuilding process as they look to come out of administration ahead of the new campaign in the Championship. Some players will be offered contracts, but at substantially reduced wages, while those out of contract - like England goalkeeper David James - are expected to leave, and Pompey are set to seek to cash in on assets such as Nadir Belhadj.Piquionne and fellow on-loan Lens forward Aruna Dindane are reported targets for Blackburn. The Frenchman would relish the opportunity to test himself in the English top flight again."I do not know what I will do next season yet - maybe I will stay here, maybe I go back to France," said Piquionne, who has two years left on his deal with Lyon."It is the end for us here now, so we all go."Portsmouth do not have the money for me, so I think I must go to another club."I want to stay in England, but I do not know where."Piquionne, who scored in the shock semi-final win over Tottenham, added: "I am sorry to have to leave, because I came here to stay, but with the problems they have, I can't."South African defender Aaron Mokoena is another player who faces an uncertain future. The 29-year-old sported a T-shirt with "Thank you Pompey," as the players waved farewell to the fans who stayed behind at Wembley."People never thought we would even get to the final because of all the things happening at the club," he said."Most people wrote us off, but we showed the character that we have in our dressing room."The pride will remain. We feel so proud because we gave it our all."Mokoena added: "We all know that a few players will leave because of the club's problems and the fact that a lot of players are on loan."Next season will be totally different and at the moment I don't know what the future holds."
