City will travel to Germany first, with the second leg at Eastlands seeing former Tottenham manager Jol making his first return to England since he was sacked by the London club. The two other semi-finalists will be the winners of Paris St German's tie with Dynamo Kiev and Shakhtar Donetsk's meeting with Marseille. Hamburg will represent a step up in class for Mark Hughes' side and they have already beaten English opposition in the tournament when they proved too good for Aston Villa in the group stages. Hamburg came from 2-0 down to beat Galatasaray 3-2 in Istanbul on Thursday and are fourth in their domestic league, with genuine ambitions of claiming the title. A relieved Hughes said after Given's dramatic intervention in Denmark: 'We should never have been in the situation of needing penalties. We were in control for an hour but we don't seem to do things easily at this club. 'But knowing Shay was between the sticks gave us real confidence and the players going up to take their penalties believed Shay would play a part and save one. 'We can play better, we have proved that, but maybe Lady Luck is smiling on us, and that's a good thing.'
