Burnley v Hull - Story of the match

Robert Snodgrass grabbed a stoppage-time lifeline for Hull as they continued to show their fighting spirit with a 1-1 draw at Burnley. Snodgrass, who grabbed a hat-trick for Scotland against Malta, again showed his eye for goal by bending a last-chance free-kick past Tom Heaton to cancel out Steven Defour's wonderful opener. The Belgian international looked to have settled things in the home side's favour in the 73rd minute with an elegant solo run and shot but the Tigers, under caretaker boss Mike Phelan, continue to defy grim predictions this term.TWEET OF THE MATCH: "Brilliant goal from Burnley's Steven Defour. Not sure I'll commentate on many better this season" - Football commentator Conor McNamara (@ConorMcNamaraIE). STAR MAN: Robert Snodgrass. An easy selection if only for his late, late equaliser but he continues to offer Hull genuine Premier League quality throughout. The Scot is making up for lost time after his injury two years ago and in some style. His superb pass might have helped Hull take the lead on the stroke of half-time and he is a physical presence too. Corner delivery also impressive. MOMENT OF THE MATCHAs a standalone moment of skill Defour trumped Snodgrass in teeing himself up for a fine opener. The Belgian brings much-needed craft and guile to the Clarets midfield and showed his full repertoire in a few seconds as he took down a high ball with precision - baffling Sam Clucas in the process. He had the run and the finish to match too.STAT OF THE DAYBetween them the two sides showed a grand total of one change from the previous round of matches - Burnley swapping Scott Arfield with Johann Gudmunsson. That was despite both being busy around transfer deadline day, leaving eight new arrivals sitting on the respective benches including club record signings Jeff Hendrick and Ryan Mason.RATINGSBurnleyTom Heaton: 6Matt Lowton: 6Michael Keane: 6Ben Mee: 5Stephen Ward: 5Dean Marney: 5Steven Defour: 7George Boyd: 6Johann Gudmundsson: 6Sam Vokes: 6Andre Gray: 5Substitutes:Jeff Hendrick (for Defour): 6Patrick Bamford (for Gray): 5Scott Arfield (for Gudmundsson): 5HullEldin Jakupovic: 5Ahmed Elmohamady: 5Jake Livermore: 6Curtis Davies: 7Andrew Robertson: 6Sam Clucas: 5Tom Huddlestone: 6David Meyler: 6Robert Snodgrass: 7Adama Diomande: 4Abel Hernandez: 5Substitutes:Will Keane (for Diomande): 6Ryan Mason (for Meyler): 6Shaun Maloney (for Clucas): 5WHO'S UP NEXTLeicester v Burnley (September 17, Premier League)Hull v Arsenal (September 17, Premier League)
