Bramble - Hard work the key

Wigan defender Titus Bramble believes his improved displays this season are down to hard work on the training field. Bramble has been in superb form for the Latics and has helped Steve Bruce's side cement their place in the top half of the Premier League table with a number of assured displays. The former Ipswich and Newcastle centre-back has previously had to endure criticism and ridicule from all quarters after a number of well-publicised defensive gaffes. But he has cut the errors out of his game this season and is now being touted for inclusion in Fabio Capello's next England squad.Bramble believes his personal improvement comes from a combination of regular action, commitment in training and the support of his fellow team-mates.MatureHe told Sky Sports News: "I think it is just down to working hard in training. "The gaffer and Blackie (Eric Black) have decided that area is a weakness, so we've worked hard in training and got the results."I think that is a credit to the team I am playing in, the management and the coaching staff. Without them I wouldn't have been as good as I have been this season."That comes with playing week-in, week-out. You are going to mature as a defender, and regular games have helped me a lot."Wigan team-mate Emmerson Boyce believes Bramble deserves international recognition, with Capello due to name his squad for the forthcoming friendly against Slovakia and the World Cup qualifier at home to Ukraine.ChanceBoyce added: "The guy has got everything you want from a centre-back. He can head the ball, he can pass and he is a great tackler."You look at the England squad now and he would probably think himself he might have a chance of getting in there."The England manager has been to a few of our games so you never know, come the end of the season he might get a call-up."
