Vale confirm Saverimutto talks

The 39-year-old stood down from his post at Dean Court earlier this month but he has since been given a tour of Vale Park and attended Saturday's home victory over Darlington. Chairman Bill Bratt insists there is no question of Saverimutto investing money into the club and that the informal talks currently taking place are purely exploratory. Bratt told The Sentinel: "We are talking to Alastair and exploring anything that would be mutually beneficial. We're not talking about investment though. He's talking about whether we are interested in him becoming our chief executive or taking up a similar role. "Whether we are interested or not is a different kettle of fish. I don't know what will happen because there hasn't been any official talks yet. We are waiting to hear from him in regards to what he could bring to the club and then we might take it further, or, we might not." Saverimutto himself added: "We have only had exploratory talks, I have not received any official proposal. But Port Vale is a huge club with huge challenges in front of them. I'm only interested in opportunities and challenges that can create a thriving business. It would be an exciting challenge and if there is a mutual interest there I will be a free agent if the right opportunity comes along."
