Manchester City's Robinho could be dropped

The Guardianclaims City manager Mark Hughes is so frustrated with Robinho's erratic performances he will replace Robinho with Martin Petrov once the Bulgarian returns from a knee injury at the end of the month. Robinho's City future is in doubt after a troubled first season at the club. Excellent in a number of home matches, he has been a virtual passenger in many away games, and was disciplined by the club following an unsanctioned trip to Brazil in January.  Related ArticlesBellamy called up for WalesCity on the road to nowhereChelsea leapfrog LiverpoolRobinho set to entertain the masses as Manchester City clash with ChelseaChelsea midfielder Deco hails the magic of Real Madrid's RobinhoRobinho going nowhere, insist Real MadridThe Guardian adds that City will listen to offers for the 25-year-old in the summer, but they are unlikely to recoup anything like the £32.5 million they spent to sign Robinho from Real Madrid. And with wages thought to top £160,000 a week, Robinho would almost certainly have to take a pay cut to join a new club. A report in the Sun says Chelsea remain interested in Robinho, but were unimpressed by his lacklustre display at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, were City were defeated 1-0. The paper quotes a Chelsea source saying: 'Robinho has to pull his finger out otherwise he can forget about any move.' In public at least, Hughes has defended the winger, saying after the Chelsea defeat: 'Robinho's general performances have been good. "He's scored 11 league goals and had a real impact. All our attackers struggled against Chelsea so it is unfair to pinpoint him.'
