O'Dea glad he stayed a Bhoy

O'Dea came close to leaving Parkhead in January with Burnley making a move to sign him on loan. However, the move failed to materialise and O'Dea ended up staying in Glasgow.O'Dea emerged as the unlikely hero of Sunday's 2-0 win over Old Firm rivals Rangers in the Co-operative Insurance Cup final and the Irishman is thankful that he did not miss out the success by moving away from the club."Life is a weird thing. A lot of people were trying to convince me football can change in a day but I was struggling to believe them," O'Dea told the Daily Record."But I've worked hard and it's now paying off."I was as close as you can get to leaving. It was all agreed but some of the lads had a few niggling injuries and that stopped me going. Literally, it went down to the last day."It looked like I may still go but thank God now I didn't."Burnley were trying to rush it through but the minute it was over I just thought about winning trophies here."Bhoys boss Gordon Strachan was delighted for O'Dea and praised the defender for responding positively to missing out on the loan move to Burnley."I couldn't be more pleased for him and Aiden McGeady, our other scorer," said Strachan."They're both products of Celtic's youth academy and that's always a very encouraging sign."Darren was disappointed when he couldn't get away from Celtic on loan but I felt we needed him at the club. He was upset but he didn't let it affect his attitude."
