Steve Bruce has not given up hope of bringing continental competition to Wigan next season. The Latics remain in the hunt for a top-seven finish, with a 2-1 victory over Sunderland on Saturday brining an end to their recent wobble. With seventh expected to be good enough to secure a UEFA Europa League place, Bruce's men currently sit just one point off the pace.Should they realise their goal, it would represent a remarkable achievement for a side that were playing non-league football just over 30 years ago."It would be terrific to bring European football to the JJB Stadium," said Bruce."It would be an unbelievable achievement for the club when you think how far Wigan have come since 1978 when they were still playing non-league football."How we would cope with it is another matter."If Tottenham and Aston Villa can't cope with the amount of games, then I'm not so sure we would."But to be in there with a chance with nine games to go is terrific. At this time last season we were really twitching."
