Rio hopes for helping hand

Rio Ferdinand is hoping Wigan can do Manchester United a favour in the title race on Sunday by springing an upset at Stamford Bridge. The Premier League title race is set to go down to the wire, with both United and Chelsea still in the running to take the crown. The Red Devils know they are relying on a slip-up from their rivals, though, with Chelsea holding a slender one-point advantage heading into the final day.Victory over Wigan on home soil would be enough to see them take the prize, while United must overcome Stoke at Old Trafford and hope for the best.Ferdinand, who has helped the Red Devils claim three consecutive crowns, accepts that Sir Alex Ferguson's men need a helping hand but insists it is not beyond the realms of possibility for the Latics to get a positive result in the capital. The 2009/10 campaign has been one of many twists and turns and United know that another upset this weekend could see them cross the finishing line in first place."It's been an exciting season," Ferdinand said in The Sun."More so-called lesser teams on paper have been taking points off the top four."In previous seasons it's been a case of the big teams beating all the others and then dropping points against each other."It's been a weird season. Hopefully that will bode well for Chelsea's game."
